We have an engineered and tested shelter the can be installed in a garage floor.
We have serious safety concerns and have choose to not sell them any longer in-spite our the significant investment in this design.
Most homes have water lines in or near their garage that could be broken allowing water to spray and potentially fill your shelter. Also your vehicle could be crushed or damaged to allow fuel to leak and enter your shelter. When homes are destroyed there is the potential for damage to electrical wires that pose a sparking hazard that would not be a good mix with fuel.
Another concern is the limited ventilation that this type of shelter has. The vent are typically in the cover or around the perimeter of the cover. The venting could be covered preventing fresh breathable air to enter as needed for survival.
Considering these things, if your home was totally destroyed and you were not able to get out of your shelter bad things could happen.
This is why we quit selling that type of shelter.
